RSNE is a non-profit organization that supports the development and improvement of a continuum of health services that meet the needs of the Acadian and Francophone community in Nova Scotia.

We work collaboratively with partners across the health system — including government bodies, educational institutions, health managers, healthcare professionals, and community members — to identify and implement solutions that improve access to French-language health care.

As part of this effort, we train, equip, and connect bilingual healthcare professionals so they are better positioned to support Francophone clients throughout their care journey.

Why this website?

Nova Scotia Health’s Mental Health and Addictions program is actively working to expand access to French-language services and resources, while also facing a shortage of bilingual professionals.

Since 2022, Nova Scotia Health, the Office of Acadian Affairs and Francophonie, Université Sainte-Anne, and Réseau Santé – Nouvelle-Écosse — have been working together to develop new strategies to improve bilingual recruitment in the mental health field (including nurses, social workers, psychologists, occupational therapists, etc.).

One of these strategies includes outreach presentations to programs affiliated with the CNFS (Consortium national de formation en santé).

Students raised their needs for a website that would provide answers to common questions and showcase career opportunities with the Mental Health and Addictions team at Nova Scotia Health.
